We are all being observed and noticed whether we know it or not. My daughter (who has a personality that is all her own) recently told me the story of a girl on her bus that was frustrated with her hair frizzing in the moist air one day. The girl posted her frustration to Facebook and my daughter saw the post on her phone. My daughter replied with “It looks fine in the back…” since she was sitting two rows behind her. They both had a few laughs regarding it and that one little innocuous post led to a realization that someone can always be watching you.
During an interview many (and especially small companies) observe the little things from the time you pull into the parking lot until the time you leave. How you treat the receptionist, what your car looks like, personal mannerisms and habits are all under scrutiny at any time and not just while in the interview. On the day of the interview always put your best foot forward from the time you leave your house until you get back home and leave the company you are interviewing with a great impression!
